Housecall A/V hangs

Was brought a PC that belongs to a co-worker. The PC had been run for a while with no A/V, Ad-Aware, etc. I installed, updated and ran Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and then tried to run Housecall A/V.

It made it to one file and stopped, going no further for almost an hour. I stopped the scan, re-booted into Safe mode and ran Housecall again. Once more it stopped at the same file.

Not sure what to try next.....any thoughts?

Try the scan at Panda A/V (http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm).

If that fails, download AVG, from Grisoft.com (www,grisoft.com), and install/scan with that.
