I have been working with PC's all my life, but am only realising that i want to learn more and eventually work on them or in a different IT area.

Is there a book that i can read to give me the basics of PC's and computing technology?

Any websites that will be of interest, as well as this one?

Hi, and yes! there is an excellant guide you can get to help anyone , this includes us senior IT pro's who've been in the field for awhile; it's Mike Meyer's A+ exam Guide, it's about $60 dollars US, and can be found online at Amazon.

Also ExamCram (http://www.examcram.com) is an excellant site with not only questions, but also comphrehensive answers to those questions for newbie's to the PC field and those experianced users who wish to bone up and keep themselves current in the PC world.

Helo Irish,

Iisbob's recomendations are excellent. On-line you might also look at tomshardware.com, anantech.com, hexus.net, xbitlabs.com, and pcstats.com as well as their links.

Have fun,

I agree with all the above. What I did was study, from the items above and picked up every PC working or non working I could get my hands on. I now have 5 networked together and they all are talking to each other. I also have 2 I am just about done with, which I will give away to disadvanage kids. The other area of study should be operating systems and software. The very best to you and go get em!
