Processor Fan?

i just built a pc. everything seems to be golden except when i shut down the processor fan stays on. and ideas? thanks

That is a new one..
How do you have the fan connected?
Is it connected to the Mother board.
Is so what connector did you use ? CPU / CASE / Pws-Sup

With an ATX mother board and power supply.
The power isn’t shut off completely when you use the case power button.
The P/S continues to provide power to the M/B
The only way I can see the CPU fan to continue running is if it is connected to the P/S Connector on the M/B or directly to the P/S itself

Its connected the the cpu fan slot.

Unless it’s a new feature built into the Mother board and or Bios
Like the electric fan on a car to continue cooling down to a preset temp.
I’d have to say you have a short somewhere or defective M/B

This an AMD Board or Intel, who makes it? It would have to be a feature like rick said most likely runs for a preset time and then shuts off ? this is a nice feature for AMD.Strange but nice http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have heard that on some Asus boards the CPU HSF wil remain on for a while after the system is shut down it is normal as long as it eventualy turns it self off.

Could it be that with atx boards unless you have disconnected the mains electricity there is still a 5v charge runing through the board after power-down, could be that this normal feature is some how defected and the fan is running of this??? could be a saftey feature in the bios?? or defected MB??

who knows...never heard of this before

its and amd board. i dont believe its a feature where the fan turns off after a while. it actually keeps giving power to the monitor as well?
