I'm not sure that this is the correct forum, but as I'm not sure of the cause, please bear with me.
In an attempt to speed up my son's computer, I'm trying to do a fresh install of XP Pro on a new hard drive (the old one has been running ok over 18 months but everything began to slow down as he has installed/uninstalled numerous programs), the old drive will be used as a data storage area if I can sort out this problem! I've gone through the XP install procedure ok and installed the wireless network card software without a problem. I then fit the network card as per instructions and reboot, windows finds the hardware and sets up the card but has trouble locating the network. If I then reboot it goes through to the windows welcome screen but almost instantly crashes and reboots and reboots ......... If I remove the wireless card, everything is ok and it boots up as normal. Anyone any ideas?
I ran out of time last night but the next move is to turn off auto restart to try to find an explanation. The odd thing is that the system has been running perfectly ok, albeit slower recently, with exactly the same hardware that I'm trying to set up now ----- Im confused.????

Well, i've found the error, BAD_POOL_HEADER. From what i can discover its a problem with badly written drivers for the PEAK wireless card. I've downloaded the latest drivers, although not the exact ones for this card, but worth a try. There's no older drivers available on their web site. I'll post the results.

Well, everythings working ok now, looks like PEAK's newer windows utility is better than the earlier drivers. This doesn't explain why the old drivers worked for 18 months, but hey who cares, the new ones seem to work better and faster.
Hope this may help someone else suffering similar problems.
