I recently installed a 512 meeg memory chip in a Soyo Dragon Ultra motherboard. When I run Norton Systemworks memory checker it shows an error at 148717568. What symptoms would I notice from a defective memory chip? I would also like to know if I have a problem that only affects a small segment of the memory as opposed to a large segment.
thanks,
Michael

Hi MJT,
You might experience the following;
System lockups
Error notices
Bluescreens
Noticeable slowdowns
The biggest problem you are having is, using Norton http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif I have learned to hate and love this company in the same breath.
I have seen the upgrade from Systemworks2001 to 2002(and non-upgrades) cause a lot of problems lately. The good thing is, it's money in my pocket fixing it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hi mjt_cgc! I had the exact same problem when I upgraded my computer from 128 MB to 512 MB. The problem is with Norton, not your memory. Norton can't check anything beyond 256 MB. It just gives a system error for any memory that is larger. Check the Symantec FAQ site to verify my remarks. Yes, it drove me crazy too for about 3 weeks! Don't worry.

I agree with Flick I get The same error from Norton. Soyo Dragon Ultra With 768MB PC2700 DDR. There is supposed to be a problem on this board when you fill all 3 DIMM slots with PC2700 DIMMs but I haven't had any problem yet.(The problem is common to all SIS 645 chipset motherboards not just the Soyo Dragon Ultra) How do you like your board? I think it is the best motherboard I have ever had.
