 Help please, new to here ,here goes......
I am trying to set two pc's as my home network.
My main pc is amd athlon 750mhz ,this is on broadband.
the 2nd pc is an amd 950 mhz, both have the gigabyte GA 71XE motherboard
the 950 pc has a GA 71XE 4 ,don't know if the 4 is the cause of my problems but the 950 wont detect the ethernet board ! I have swopped the boards and they both work in my 750 pc.
I have had a look in the BIOS and both machines are set up identical.
I have tried putting the ethernet board in all the available pci slots in the 950 but no matter what I do I can't get the 950 to detect the ethernet board.
Both the pc's are running on xp pro.
it seems like the pci slots are disabled, but the bios setting are the same on both pc's.
any help appreciated.

Hello Hanson,in the bios it tells me pci/pnp so that should mean it is enabled should it?
I can't find it ethernet devices listed in the "device manager" On this pc it is shown below monitors in the device manager but on the 2nd pc no sighn of it,even when I make a search for recently installed hardware, nothing?
Thanks,Gary
Hanson are you asking is there an ethernet intergrated on the motherboard,I don't think there is.

PrntRhD I apologise for putting this in the wrong forum duh!

Thanks to all concerned I have sorted my home network.
I took the modem out of the 950pc and put the ethernet card in it's place Bingo!
I am not atall well up on motherboards, bios setting etc but I think the slot that the modem was in might have different capabilities than the others.
With the 950 connecting through this pc it doesn't need the modem so nothing lost there.
The network wizards make the setting up really easy, all I need to do now is set a firewall up.
many thanks.
