View Full Version : Can partitions other than C get virus/worms?

My Windows XP system has 13 partitions on three hard disks.

Are partitions other than C likely to get attacked by a virus, worm, or other malware? Might the partitions on the 2nd & 3rd disks be totally safe from such attacks?

How safe is the pageing file? Would it be safer in a partiton on the 2nd or 3rd disk?

A partition can be infected just as easily as the C: drive... There is one bit of malware going around right now that will infect any active process, no matter where it is... You need to set up protections to protect all of your drives... Of course, I have several partitions that are just for data and those are probably safer because they are not executables... If I put an executable in one, it would be subject to infection...
