I came across an odd thing today while burning some data DVD-R's for the first time on my new system. Some background; I'm using a LiteOn SOHW-1633S 16X dual-layer DVD burner with the OEM version of Nero Express that was packaged with the drive.
The oddity is this: If I load the DVD-R blank before starting Nero, the program reads the blank as a CD-R. If I load the DVD-R blank after starting Nero, the program reads the blank properly and I can burn using the full capacity of the disk. I had several false starts before I figured that out; I thought at first that the drive might be malfunctioning but NeroInfoTool showed the drive's specs correctly.
As long as I remember to wait until Nero has loaded before loading the DVD blank, there's no real problem since in that case the disc loads and burns correctly, but this is an odd thing and not how I remember previous versions of Nero operating, especially on my old system. Has anyone else come across this?
