Hello Friends,
I posted a question, weeks ago regarding this machine. I am suspect that the BIOS is gone, is it possible to fix this? Is this something that could have been caused by a virus?

There are BIOS wrecking viruses, but most PCs have been patched against them for some time now.
What OS was on the notebook? Your earlier post is here: http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?p=223058#post223058 which says 98SE.
Did it have up to date AV?
Does the notebook show the Gateway logo screen?
Does it show "press F1 for setup"? If it does, that IS the BIOS portion, at that point it is more likely something not allowing the HDD to run to load the OS, or a bad HDD.

Thanks for the reply.
here is what I do know: AV probably not as current as it should have been,
The os was 98 se
There is no setup screen at the beginning of bootup, however the "Windows is loading" screen does appear, after a few moments the screen turns blue with only a cursor arrow showing and I am able to move the cursor.
