I borrowed a mates digital video camera and loaded the film onto my computer to burn to CD. As I do not yet have a DVD burner, I thought a VCD would do the trick. I successfully created the VCD using Roxio CDCreator and it plays back in a VCD enabled DVD player attached to my tv. However the VCD will not play back on my computer. Neither Real Player not Windows Media Player recognise the movie portion but do play the sound.

Is there a freebie VCD player out there that I could download, or does anyone know of a patch that can be loaded against RP and WMP?

edit***should have done a search first. I've just found an earlier thread with the answer in it.****

A Google search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Playing+vcd&btnG=Google+Search) turns up lots of info and the first link mentions that Windows Media Player can do it just fine along with a few other programs I recognize such as Win DVD. Good luck, have fun.

I'm in the process of some analog to digital film capturing today and i'm now 'shrinking' the files to fit onto dvd's as they range anywhere from 2.5 to 5 gig mpeg2's! I may need to split some up, after all they are mostly an hour long and one of them is 2 hours.. Most of them are live band video sets so splitting them will be no problem.

Actually it would be better if I can get them to fit onto cd's as many of my friends are yet to have dvd players.
