Works fine, but connects only at 19200 bps (serial null modem cable).
How am I supposed to set a different connection speed for DCC? I cannot seem to find these options.

kiosk,
I think your low data transfer rate is probably due more to hardware limitations than software settings. I haven't used serial DCC myself, but from what I have read, the serial connection is the slowest. Parallel connections are noted to be much faster, (check out This (http://www.wown.com/articles_tutorials/dccspeed.html) link for some info) and USB being potentially faster.
Of course, for even higher data transfer rates, why not just install a NIC in each computer and get the throughput available with ethernet?

It's clearly the way to go

I already have all the hardware installed; this serial connection is used to share a 56k dial-up connection. Thus, a serial connection is more than two times faster than modem.
...it works perfectly well at 115200 bps, but I'm able to initiate such a connection only from Terminal software. Windows DCC works only at 19200 bps and has no apparent way of changing this...
