i can go to internet options and click internet file folder it has zero for amount of disk space to use. i can move the pointer to increase the size from zero then i click ok apply and restart pc. when in reboots i check to see if the settings has changed and it's still at zero.

needless to say the pages don't load they just appear to start loading but the task never completes. also when i click on advance and scroll down to security there is an ! mark at the 1st cookie box even though i have accept all cookies checked. one my tibit of ino all my windows temp files read like this(C:\000windows\temporary internet filse folder) i have check other desk tops and they look like this C:\windows\temporary internet files folder} the 000 are missing on thoer desk tops.

a little pc info. amd xp 1100, windows 98, iternet explorer version 4.0 windows 98 was just installed.

Web pages should finish loading no matter how much hard drive space is set aside for the Temporary Internet Files folder. The allocated hard drive space simply stores info for web pages that were previously visited so that they will open faster the next time they're visited.
D/L Internet Explorer 6.0 from MS and see if that fixes things. If not, reformat the hard drive, reinstall Windows, and upgrade to IE 6.0.

If you are using IE 5> then goto add/remove programs and select unistall, this will give a repair option-use it before attempting to upgrade to a newer version of IE-as this is not necessary.

What's happened is your IE registry settings have gotten corrupted, reinstalling should fix this. If you have IE %> on a Disk ( some magazines include it a a freeware app ) you can do it from ther if the repair option doesn't work.

You can also call MS and they will send you a CD with your choice of IE on it for a small fee.

I would go further than iisbob and say DEFINITELY do not attempt to upgrade to IE6 until you have sorted your problem out. BTW is there anything currently in your "ZERO" size Temporary Internet Files Folder. If there is then DEFINITELY delete them all before doing anything else. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Also how much space is free on your HD?

I expect that you reinstalled OVER the previous windows installation (which is not the best way to get rid of corruption) and during the subsequent setup you must have OK'd the creation of a new Windows Folder called windows000. If you are doing a fresh set-up then it would seem to be wiser to do a brand new clean install following a format of your c: drive. Just make sure you have any important data backed-up first.

If you feel you must reinstall over then you could rename your Windows/Windows000 folder(s) as WindowsOld(s) and your Program Files folder as Program FilesOld. Then it would be possible to access these, following the reinstallation, to retrieve or access old data - before deleting them.
