recommended forum applications?

hi, i didnt know where to classify this post so i decideed to put it uunder applications since im looking for a good forum application (like php?)

im helping set up an online forum for a non-profit foundation and iim in search of a very good forum client (?) thats preferably free (but if you can recommened a great forum / blogging tool then thats cool too). the idea is to have the front page to contain news and announcements as well as a "recent posts" view as well as a page for photo albums where members can post picturs of their activities.

as an aside, what are good hosting services? i hear www.ctcd.com is ok.

ctcd sucks!:mad: i subscribed to them few years ago. bad service..you can search the web to know more about them. well, maybe it's because they're cheap maybe that's why their service is like that.
