Hi, i recently bought my first laptop and i was shock when i saw that the cd’s that it brought were blank, meaning i didn’t have the drivers of the machine. The laptop i¡m talking about is an emachine model M5414. The laptop came with a program to make recovery disk but when i try to use it the program tells me that a set of these cd have already been made, so i can’t make another set. I read in the Internet that this machines come with a problem in that program, that they say that a set has already been made when in fact it hasn’t. Well, that’s my problem, i need to get the drivers cause i have to format the machina, can someone give me a clue on this? Thanks for any answer!!

WinDriversbackup (http://www.download-by.net/system-utilities/other/9817,windriversbackup-personal-edition.html) is a free utility that will backup your drivers but I think you will still be lacking other ones for that laptop.

I checked the eMachine website and they have no driver downloads for that model?!?!

How long ago did you buy it? Where? Someplace like CompUSA or Bestbuys? If you are still within the return period, I would take it back immediately and ask for a refund...replacement if you really want that machine. Who knows what else is wrong.

If you bought it online and are within the return period, RMA it.

At a minimum raise heck. Blank system CDs, no driver downloads, copies already made...these are very bad signs.

Emachine has already acknowledged that the software that they use to create the backup discs is messed up.

I've already responded to your thread in another forum, but here goes..

Click here (http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=76639) to check out the drivers you need. I'm trying to get the 4 recovery disks hosted on the internet, but www.yousendit.com is crapping out on me right now. If you have a suggestion feel free to post on that link. I probably won't be coming back to this forum. Thought I'd try to help.

Do-it-yourself restorations will not help e-Machines' reputation for support, will they?
NisAznMonk's link for the corporate response may help determine the sequence for restoration from the hidden partition.

nah. I've always had great things to say about Emachine desktops, but thier laptops left a sour taste in my mouth. The Gateway I have does the same type of restoration, but it actually works. I wonder why Emachine couldn't get thiers to work...especially since gateway owns them now.
