3d Direct??

I hope someone can help me figure this out:

I have bought this game that I believe requires a 3D video card. Because I have looked at the game's requirements and it seems (3d) is the only feature missing.
my first question: how do I find out where my video card is and of what type?
secondly: where do I buy or download this 3D feature?

my other issue is when I run DIRECTX to see if everything is running smoothly, the 3D DIRECT TAB is not on and it says that this feature is not functionally available.
So I guess the two problems are related?

D/L Everest to determine which video card/adapter your system is using:

WRT the 'Test Direct3D' button being greyed out, make sure that 'Direct3D Acceleration' is enabled.
Also, which DirectX version are you using?
