gotodreams,
Jumby's post seems to be from generic search results. I tried Google and got 115,000 hits for all sorts of non-specific stuff.
Have you tried contacting Webroot on this? If you pay for the software you should get support for the money.

The obvious answer here is that the window needed o enter the key is not working. Linux/Unix work windows differently by default than Windoze. With Linux and Unix, a window does not get focus, or become enabled/active, until the cursor is rolled over it. So any keyboard or mouse activity will not be applied to that window. The exception is when a window is "modal". Modal means that a particular window has focus regardless and retains focus until some event--usually some activity by the user like a click or keyboard entry.
Windoze windows, assuming multiple ones are open, require you to click in them for them to get focus and enable them. Generally, the same goes for icons. You can configure windoze to behave differently--more like Linux. I do that but most people don't.
As for invisibility, well, if a window is invisible you can't do much with it. Worse, if it is invisible and modal--meaning it retains focus and all other windoze cannot get focus (e.g., the first window requires a response and is waiting), you're in trouble. In Linux or Unix, you would simply kill the process running that window. In windoze, You're screwed.
That's the long answer. The short answer is the key entry window is not working, reinstall the application. Assuming disabling the key entry window is not some sort of copy protect mechanism to prevent piracy, that should work.

i feel ur pain... i ve had this problem a few times with this same program. i found the problem was me copying and pasting the serial into the windows instead of manually typing it in. so try manually typing stuff in when u get this error message and maybe it will work for u too. good luck! :D
