Hi, I am new to pc's and an absolute dumbo. I have Windows 98. I can record audio from CD etc in .wav format to my pc, using the "Sound Recorder" via Accessories. I would like to transfer these wav files to an MP3 recorder/ player, ( not yet bought ), to use in my car. All mp3 recorders seem use the usb port for recording, but I cannot find a way transfer these wav files to the USB port. Someone out there must know how to do this.
Help,
Kind regards,
Chris Griffiths.

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums!

Well first you'll need to convert your wav files to mp3 with software such as this (http://www.audio-converter.com/index.html).

Some reading here (http://support.radioshack.com/support_tutorials/audio_video/mp3-4.htm) on the subject.

Typing little phrases in Google goes a long ways at finding out what you want to know like 'wav to mp3' or 'ripping softwares'.

Winamp, Windows Media Player, MusicMatchJukebox and other softwares allow you to rip from cd's and encode into various formats and some of them will also send the files to your media player when converted if neccessary.

Try this free prog http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/downloads.php
It's simple, but very effective.
