Most of the time when i start my computer, it boots up normal, no questions there. But, about 20% of the time, when i start the computer, the monitor won't click in, it will just be a blank screen; and the four green lights under each adjustment button will blink on and off. I have a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 420 Graphics Card, it is plugged in through the AGP slot. My Monitor is a CTX....PL7 i believe, and is plugged in through the 15-Pin Montior Port. Also, if its important; the Video Card, has an S-Video Jack on it, that has a S-vid cord plugged in, but is rarely plugged into any other Visual Aid (My TV). The Cord is just plugged into nothing. All the cords, cards, and plugs are securly inserted, so im confused.

THANKS TO ANYONE WITH A CLUE MORE THAN I!!!! ;)

I would try borrowing a different monitor to see if the symptoms persist, if the symptoms go away, it is time to get a new monitor.

Do you hear the single short beep that indicates successful completion of the POST?
The video card is only enabled upon POST completion.
Hence, NO POST = no display.
You may have a NO POST problem [intermittently].
Once upon a time my PC had an intermittent failure to POST caused by the CPU heatsink fan becoming noisy and beginning to fail and probably shorting the PSU.
When I fitted a new fan the problem went and hasn't returned since.

I've read here of other cases of intermittent failure to POST caused by too aggressive configuration settings in the BIOS Setup.
Once the BIOS was reset to more conservative settings all was well.

For background and assistance:
Download a copy of my diagnostic flowcharts from here
www.erniek.eclipse.co.uk/downloads/sylvanderdiags.zip
and print them to leaf through.
Begin on the STARTUP chart.
