Greeting:
first time poster.
I purchased a Dell Dimension 4600C in 2/04 and yesterday my computer shuts off on me. Upon restarting it I receive the following message:
alert previous shutdown thermal error, alert previous shutdown fan
press f-1 to continue, f-2 for setup. After a while the computer shut off again.
i opened up the unit and the side fan seems to be running okay. There is a brushless fan that looks like a a big black scotch tape dispenser and this does not seem to be running (I don't know much about this as to whether it should be or if it is some type of back-up fan that kicks)
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. I called Dell. My warrantly ran out two months ago.
Thanks,
Shane Gilreath
