Hi all,
I don't know if anyone else uses this prog but i could use some help.
This program was running ok until i had to do a reload of win98se on my system and since then i cannot use it...specifically, i cannot access the "program setup" routine...which allows me to utilise modem or update it...i don't know....it just does not open that box.
I was wondering if this is registry related? I have never updated the program so it may be not up to date as i just recently updated the lucent winmodem driver.
Been to the symantec site

but nothing works yet...

cheers

You did a reload ?
by that do you mean a reinstall of win98se ?

If so you may need to uninstall winfax .
Reboot and reinstall it also.
It makes some major changes to the system when it is installed

Also go into control panel make sure your modem is seen by windows and run the modem advanced option / diagnostics

If windows can’t see the modem winfax can’t

Once you have winfax up and running you must also make sure you use the add modem option in winfax tool/setup menu

Hi Rick
thax for responding...
i had a look at modem and it is recognised by system...however, (and this is one reason why i posted about putting dialogue box on post) under devices,
ports, com1 and com2 are listed but not used and no other except printer is shown,
but under modem, it is assigned com3. The modem works ok but the assigning is weird. I had a look at the irq's and nothing is shared.

Anyway, this pc was given to me ages ago....the files are all there for winfax but since i reinstall of win98se, it is not in add/remove programs and i cannot tell which .exe file to use in the winfax folder to install. Have you any ideas...

I did have luck in getting into the 'program setup' window as this article told me to find and activate this file.
