I'm a newbie/first timer here. Can anyone help me recover from "Low Memory" problems? I'm running Win98 on a PII-450 with 384MB of RAM with a 25MB swapfile. Msinfo32 recognizes all 384MB, but reports less than 20% available with only 1 ap running. I read about the 512MB limit being a problem, but the system is still under that. Any help is appreciated.

try letting windows handle the swap file.

Are you sure only one app is running? What is it? what is running in the background?
Also what are your other caches like?
Some programs need a swapfile of a certain size in order to run (25MB sounds like a good number but is probably too little....) somewhere around 60MB (certain games require atleast 80MB) and up is good.
Backgorund programs count against available memory and they can use up lots of other resources. <Ctrl><Alt><Del> once to bring up a list of what is currently running. I bet you have a lot more than just one app running....

Those two links are lists of programs that run at startup and how "needed" they are are and in some cases how to shut them off......
