Just changed out a tired old HDD installed and loaded everything up and there are a couple off glitches. Win XP Pro is running fine, the only thing is that when I go to use a remoted USB device the OS wont bring it right up. If the remote devive was plugged in and turned on it will see it.

I looked in the BIOS and there is no mention of legecy support excapr for the keyboard and mouse , the DISABLED but both work fine--

Legacy USB support is to allow USB support for DOS based programs' use. If USB works under Windows, it should find and enable whatever you plug in, or ask for drivers for it. You may still need to install chipset drivers though, to enable better USB support for the motherboard/chipset.

Well that did not do it, I reinstalled the chip set drivers and the only way the USB devices will work is if they are on when I reboot. Then if you unplug them and replug them they wont work unless you unpower the hub, then they work. ?????

Well everything coming out of the back of the computer is USB 2.0 it seems its a HUB ISSUE---I assumed that all these hubs will perform with XP drivers alone I guess some do and some do not I have three 1 does Stratitec is OK the other D-Link and SIIG need there own drivers to work correctly, unless there both bad [ I doubt that]---Thanks for your reply Paleo Pete

Windows XP has the usb2 drivers on SP1 and SP2 but not without at least one of those.

Then some usb devices need more drivers than just the usb2 ones for the usb ports.
