Have an old pent 333mhx which I have used as practice for the last year or so . However today the message on monitor comes up NO SIGNAL INPUT have tried another monitor , it has on board graphics so I put an old video card in still the same & what with not being able to get to the bios I can not disable onboard anyway . Have also done a bare bones boot & tried a new psu just on the off chance . There is no beeps on start up which is ominous the fans are all working including cpu fan . So I presume all that is left is faulty CPU or Motherboard failure or Memory ? . I will not be buying any more parts for it as it would be cheaper to buy another old pc to experiment with , but if anyone has any suggestions feel free .

Why can't you get into the BIOS?
Can you test:
1: the monitors in another pc?
2: the pci or isa video card in another pc?

Hi Ted .. have tried 2 known working monitors & video card is ok , but as I said not being able to disable on board could be ruling that out .

I would think you could at least see something on the add on card because one of my boards here has onboard and when I install a pci vid card it does display in 16 colors. Installing the drivers gives me a dual monitor situation which at times is real handy.
It's beginning to sound like your mobo, CPU or RAM is on it's way out though because you say there is no POST. Did you disconnect all drives when doing the barebones boot? Try just 1 stick of RAM? Put the mobo on a piece of cardboard? All fans connected to the mobo work?
Edit:
Is it Pentium 2? What type of RAM does it use?

Tried the barbones on the cardboard Mate .. pent2 . the ram was sdram pc100 . Have only onwe stick so no spare to play with . Think cpu or m/b is knacked . the last few days when booting up it sometimes got to windows then just vanished . from today gone altogether . Thanks for the suggestions will seek out an old one at pc /fair it was handy for experimenting & testing ect .

Alrighty!
What else you got in your attic??? :D I got a lot of old parts like that. I was going to offer a PII processor if you needed one. Glad you got it running...
