My toshiba came with 64mb sdram at 66 mzh. It can take a max of 192 mb. What I see a big difference in performance with this upgrade, specifically speeding up the time it takes for programs to open and run

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Waterskiierlover... ;)

Sounds like an older laptop to be using 66mhz RAM. I didn't find any specs on it with a quick search but you will notice a difference adding RAM to that computer. Will it do miracles, no. But I have a couple older pc's at a couple locations (friend's and girlfriend's place) with 233mhz processors and I've maxed the RAM on those to around 192 and they burn cd's, do print tasks, scan photos, copy same.

What adding more RAM does more than actually speed things up is more like allowing you to multitask it to a degree like l;isten to cd's while browsing the internet without the songs skipping or internet pausing etc. Will it allow you to do todays games? No way!

If you copy and paste text or copy pics, web pages, yes it will seem faster because it can hold much more information in memory due to the size in bytes or capacity of working storage.

I looked in Google and eBay and eBay had no kickbacks on anything with that description. Maybe you can do better or try Crucial or Newegg for more RAM.
