monitor problem

I put a magnetic device on top of my monitor so that it would have a good vantage point. I took it off about five minutes later and the monitor displays everything near the top of the screen in shades of purple now. That problem goes away when I put the magnet back on top of it.
The magnet is not on it now and the purple shades are back. Is this monitor skrewed?

No, you just need to degauss the monitor. Either look for it in the OSD, or turn the monitor off then turn it back on. That should fix things.
