screen goes blank

this is for a friend of mine.

when you open the laptop lid the screen can be seen just fine until a certain point then it suddently goes blank. i'm guessing some type of connection is loose. could you give me any tips or maybe a tutorial i could look at? thanks

Ehat is on the screen right before it goes blank?

That sounds like a bad flex cable to the display.

thats what it is. i have the lcd screen off but am having trouble pulling the frame around the lcd off. i'm afraid of breaking something so if you could give me any input i'd appreciate it.

one more thing, i just pulled the cable that looked really crimped (pretty bad shape), and a site says that its the "wifi" cable. wifi meaning for wireless signals? if this is so, i assume its not used for the lcd display? and the other cable must be the one that needs replacing

could it be a bad inverter cable also? that's teh cable thats really pinched bad

actually the screen goes VERY dim to where you can BARELY see anything. so not blank just very dim
