Hi there. I seem to have a huge problem, cannot do much on my computer anymore

Keep getting the following message.

The instruction at "0xparameter " referenced memory at "0xparameter ". The memory could not be "text ". When I look up the support bases. All I see is contact your system administrator. Now heres the clue. I dont have one?
Could anybody provide me with information on this one?

When I try to defragmantate my drive I also keep getting a stop error.
KMODE+EXCEPTION-NOT-HANDLED It points towards the Hal.dll. I got it from my cd but It doesnt change a bit.

this first error message ? Some machines have pooled memory for video functions so the less you use for video the more you will have for other system resources. This sounds like a memory problem ??? are you useing W/2000 or NT? You can try adding more mem. or reduce the Video settings?

Kmode If your useing NT I don't see how you would get this error this is a windows error for sure now whether it's a software or hardware problem is the question.I would have to say that if it is not the Hard drive then it is in the Bios If you have another Hdd switch and try it if it is still there then I would say it's Bios? but hang out some one might have had this before.

By the way make a Back up of what you want to keep I have a feeling you will be reinstalling the OS before this is done???

Yoda! Thanks a lot for your quick answer. Ik wil try to backup some things first! I use Windows 2000 Pro.And Im afraid I did not give you enough information. I once got the message: CMos checksum error.CPU settings have been changed..Defaults loaded... If I read your reply..perhaps thats the problem. Can I reset my setup and Bios settings to defaults in the Bios?Or wil this give me just more problems...or has It got no effect?

Ps: I put Page files on all of my Partitions to get more memory... Is that a problem?
Thanks again
