Laptop - Wireless security

A friend just purchased a Dell laptop and has a Adelphia wireless cable modem.

What can I do to help her be more secure while on a wireless connection?

At this point that all the info I have.

First turn off file and printer sharing in the wireless network properties
Second go into control panel and set a password on the guest account
then disable the guest account

Install a firewall and anti virus program
It would also be a good idea to set the wireless router and all systems to use encryption
