When I boot my Win98 system, I get a message that says something like "Windows is unable to use the display settings you chose". Everything works fine in spite of the message. I haven't recently changed the display settings (intentionally, that is). The message started around the same time I installed Photoshop Elements which came with my digital camera.

Any ideas? It's not causing any problems I know of but I'd like to eliminate the message and maybe learn something in the process.

Hello TorontoElder and Welcome to the PCGuide Forums
It is quite possible the the installation of Photoshop Elements has tried to change your display settings. if you are running win98 boot in safe Mode ( press F8 during boot and choose safe mode)check in control panel/display/settings and see if the setting there are correct. change if required. Windows will let you change the settings, but won't use them until you reboot. If you are using winXP or 2000 then I don't know how the display setting are changed, but someone else here will.
