could anyone please help!
my friend has windows millenium, and her children have been on the pc, now she cant get "paint" to open.
she doesnt know what they have done! the paint icon is still on the desktop, and it is still in programs, accesories.
but when u click on it, to start it, a message comes up saying
"mspaint has caused an error in MFC42.DLL. mspaint will now close"
anyone have any suggestions?

thanks,
hank!

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=185501 may be of relevance or not.

If you have System Restore running you should be able to go back to a point before this happened.

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Go to ControlPanel - AddRemovePrograms - WindowsSetup - Accessories - Details - Paint and uncheck it.

Reboot (may not be necessary but a good principle to get "things to stick") and do the same again but this time check the box.
