Ok I have tried to look all this up but keep running into the same corner. For some reason Direcx 9.0c will not update on my computer becuase it says I already have the latest version.

What I have found is a uninstaller to take version 9 off and start with my Windows XP Home 8.1 drivers. I did that yet again I can not install 9.0c.

Now I have found 9.0b I can install that but I am getting a error on my game when tabbed out and in the DirectX diagnostic tool I have d3dim700.dll that says its out of date and to reinstall DirectX to fix the problem. wtf? I cant!!!

Is there anyway that people have got around this?

Try re-installing Windows XP. Should take 20 minutes and you don't lose anything. :)

That has to make some kinds of problems? I think I read some where I can reinstall directx off my windows CD and try again.

You could try DXE 2.0 (if that isn't what you already tried) and then reinstall from fresh.

I found a newer .dll for my directx but I am still getting the crash error.

Thanks I will try that DXE 2.0 and give some results as soon as I can.

[I]
why do you need DirectX 9.0?

Some applications and/or games require it to work optimally.
