network problems with XP upgrade

I am working on a network running DHCP on a NT4 server platform with several clients running NT4 workstation. One machine recently upgraded to XP Pro and cannot access several Excel spreadsheets that are shared on the server. Seems like a permission problem but I can't find it, am I missing something simple? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Are you running Office Xp on the XP machine perhaps? I've noticed in the trials i've run of OfficeXP that it sometimes has problems opening Office 2k version files.

Could be a new bug in XP, possibly a prermission one as you suspect; can the user(s) open other files ok?

Can you access then at all as Admin in Xp? Try setting them with the everyone group as full permission and see what happens.
