Call me dummy and I know better than this. I had my spare computer on and tried to plug in a cdrom. The power plug was upside down and caused a spark. What do you think I fried? The computer will turn on, power to everything it seems but no picture on the monitor. Actually It doesn't sound like it is even trying to boot (startup disk in A drive).
Any ideas? And yes lesson learned LOL.
Thanks Jamie

Hello Jamie and welcome to the PC Guide Forums.
It is possible that you have fried the power supply or one of the outputs. If you have a multimeter I suggest you check that ALL the output voltages are present and correct. If not, can you substiute a PSU from another machine? Some lessons can come expensive can't they?

Thanks David,
I checked the power supply, All good. Then I unplugged the cdrom that I had got the spark from and everything is working. What would make a bad drive not let the system boot up? I have 2 old cdroms and neither will let it boot up?

Hotswapping was one of the things i liked a bout SCSI, but it doesn't work with IDE! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif
Sounds to me like you've pooched your motherboard, probably blew a capacitor or two.
Time for a new mobo!

If everything is working with the questionable CD unplugged then you could have still damaged part of your power supply...or like iisbob said the motherboard.
