As per EU instruction MS has released (or will be shortly) version of Prof & Home XP WITHOUT Media Player. This will be known as XP/N

Language Release To Manufacturing
English release June 15th, 2005
Other European languages will be released between 15 - 29th June 2005

Description of the Product: In compliance with the European Commission Decision, Microsoft will produce for distribution in Europe new versions of Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional. These new versions will not include Windows Media Player.
