Hi, I'm in the market to upgrade the visuals on my PC. Other than school work, I use my PC for gaming.
I have an NVIDIA GeForce 5900 Ultra graphics card, and a 17" Dell Flat Screen LCD Monitor, Max resolution is 1280 X 1024. Sorry, I don't know the rest of the specs but I have had it for 3 years now.
I'm trying to figure out which one to upgrade to achieve visual performance from my system.
I'm looking at either a NVIDIA 6800 Ultra or a 19" Flat Screen either LCD or TFT
Just a couple of questions...
1.) Am I getting the optimal performance out of my video card now, or is the monitor possibly holding it back?
2.) If I upgrade to a 6800 Ultra from NVIDIA will its capabilities be wasted with an older monitor?
In other words I'm open to buying either but I don't want to waste the money on a monitor I don't need or a video card that I wouldn't be able to fully use.
