http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif I have a Pentuim 133 with 81 mb of ram (reported) with a Diamond Stelth 64 S3 Trio PCI on a J656VXD rev2 mainboard (whatever that means) and a Fujitsu Hard Drive. When I Adjsuted the Ram from 4 8mb sims to 2 8mb simms with 2 32 mb simms every went funny, and everthing was still buggered up after I took out the 2 32s, so it is probably unrelated to the mm change.

When it boots it gets through and then just crashes: I get all this snow. When I try to soft reset (AltCrlDel) it just gets the cursor it a random spot on the screen. A hard reset results in an enternal Stelth 64 BIOS message.

I have noticed than the hard drive is detected but not accessed, the same with PCI controllers but there is no PnP crap going on.

Please, if you know anything help me!

Enter the BIOS and save, this is necessary sometimes when changing RAM.

Sorry, did I forget to mention that I saved the BIOS multiple times, closed the JP5 reset twice, taken the battery out, Taken the video card out, put it back in without its DRAM, taken the new SIMMs out and back in?

Check each and every cable to make sure that none of them were knocked loose when you were installing the RAM...

Also when you were doing this did you follow anti-static procedures (wrist strap...touching the case, etc), that the mcahine was unplugged and off?

Any indications of any other kinds of errors?

Any beeps?

Hello,

Did you perhaps install DIMMS and SIMMS together in the same motherboard? Some motherboards say that is a NO-NO and can cause unpredictable failures. You may be lucky and find out that your system will work fine now with either the SIMMS or the DIMMS, but NOT both!

Good Luck!

Thank you all who submitted their comments, but I was looking for a more specific explantion. but now it seems that it has got worse (nothing apart from drive whirup) so it seems I will have to replace the mainboard. It would seem that I have not taken enough anti-static procedures.

I checked All the cables by elimination
And no: I just use SIMMS
And yes: I am a hack!
