h/d help

My hard drive crashed so I bought another and when I put the start up disc in it does nothing, no monitor no nothing.
Any help please?

We will need a whole lot more information.

1) Full system specs.

2) Exactly what happened to the system and what lead you to decide it was the HDD?

3) Did you install anything new (hardware or software) right before the crash?

4) What were you doing when it crashed?

I bought it off E bay it is a p4 not a dell, with nvidia Geforcefx5200.
Thats about all I know.
The old hd was an 80 gig hitachi and the new one is a 160 gig.
Ididnt change anything before new install.
