Is it possible to install serialATA drivers on WinXP by pressing F6 (i know you can do that part) and then use a cd with the serialATA drivers on instead of a floppy disket ?

If so how ?

Thanks.

I've never been able to get any other option than the A:\ drive. Nor do I know of any way to turn the CD into an A:\ drive in that situation. Possibly, just possibly, it could be done some way from an EBCD using "floppy emulation" but I doubt it since as soon as the WinXP setup starts it creates its own new kernel.

One way might be to create a customised installation with a SIF file and include the drivers that way. I've never done that with drivers but I'm sure I've read that it's possible.

The only other way that I have avoided the F6/Floppy is to install onto a PATA, make an image of that installation AFTER you have added the SATA/SCSI/RAID drivers and then restore that image to the SATA/SCSI/RAID.

if you dont have a floppy drive, you can integrate the drivers for your controller straight into your windows xp disc. check out this guide (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview/cfm?articleID=1703) for more info.

Thanks very much that's exactly what I was referring to with "create a customised installation with a SIF file". Great to have a walk through. I havent read it but the original PCstats way of making a slipstreamed installation worked perfectly in the past so I expect this is just as good.
