Hi all.
I have just come omline to ask for advice, and was surprised to notice a "similar" sympton by Dek: "two bleeps followed by a single".
I don't know whether they are related so I'll describe my occurrence.........
sometimes when my machine is on standby I get 3 bleeps as in morse "s". Does this need attention or is it normal??
Await your advice.

Ray is this the only time that it does this "is in standby mode" ??
It doesn't do it at post?
It might be the memory, vid card,or bad CMOS setting? I guess it will depend on if that is the only time that it does it.Unless you have a battery monitor on that board?

Yoda,
thanks for reply.
Bleeps only ever occur while in "standby" mode.
Sometimes I hear it, sometimes I am sure I miss it; in the back of my mind I get the feeling that it occurs regularly but not often. Perhaps I had better explain what I mean by "Standby" (I've never really understood): I set the screen saver to come on first eg.10mins then monitor close down, then turn off hard disk...that's as far as I go.
I get the normal bleep during boot up, and no other suggestion of a problem (audio-wise). I am really only concerned that there may be an inefficient fan or other over heating.
Thanks again
Ray

It could be a processor fan if you have the kind that are monitered by the motherboard, I think usually when it is the processor overheating it is a continuous beep not three short like moris code.I don't have that option on this one "wish i did" We can eliminate that it is memory seems it does not happen at post.Still leaves the vid card and a possable over heating issue? You run a pentium or AMD,And do you know what motherboard and Bios you have? Kind of need all this info so no one else has to ask and eat up time if this is a seriouse heat problem. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif Do you have a temp monitering program that you know of so we can find out what temp the CPU is running at?
