Hi
I have a little problem setting up my LAN connection and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
What I have is 2 nice new PC's. Both running XP home SP 2. One in the livingroom and the other in my daughter bedroom. I've also got a Belkin ADSL Modem, with wireless router. This is connected to my PC. My daughters PC has a wireless G usb connected. I've manged to get the 2 PC's connected to the web at the same time. :)
Now for the problem, and I think you can see it coming. I can't see either PC even though I've given them the same "workgroup" name. All I get when I click on View Workgroup computers is You don't have permisson to use this network, blah, blah blah....
I have switched on the guest account on both system and I'm sharing at least one file on each system. I've also shared out the printer on my PC but the other one can't see it.
Is this something simple that I've missed, or can't I do what I'm wanting?
Thanks in advance
Billy

Yes it can be done.
BUT FIRST..

Go into control panel then user accounts ,
Find and edit the guest accounts . Password protect them and disable those guest accounts..

They are a security risk.

Then go in and check the security settings in your firewall

If both systems can access the internet.
You just need to get the file and printer sharing setup on local network working.

You should also check the network properties .
Make sure you have file/printer sharing installed and enabled
Right click the network connection and then use the properties button/tab

I've got Home on both PC's

The penny dropped this morning, I've forgot to set my Norton firewall to let me see other PC's. I'll be giving that a try later. If I have success you'll be able to hear. :D

Also keep in mind that Windows XP SP2 enables the Windows firewall by default, so unless you disabled it you very well might need to make some adjustments to it inorder to allow the network computers to connect.

All calm has been restored to my house. I'm now seeing all the PC's I need and even managed to set the printer up too.
Thanks
