......to a printer.
I'm on XP home...I am the owner and I would like to block access to my printer from a limited user on the same machine.I simply want to keep my teenage son (who has his own pc with printer)from using our resources(ink, photo paper etc..)rather than buy his own since he is constantly printing cd covers and photos and who knows what else.
I just can't find out how to do this or if it can even be done.Printer is a Canon I860.
Thanx, P.

enable password for system ( In Bios ) and users..in windows,

If he doesn't have the bootup password he can't use/start the system

Yes but I don't really want to deny him use of the PC......just the printer.

You can give him limited access to the system.
User profile for his log in.
Then restrict that level to no printer use.
Under the printer properties

However you will be require to enforce the security settings for the system.

Log on in Safe Mode as a User with Admin rights.
RClick on the Printer.
Choose the Security Tab.
Reset the Permissions there.

Similar under WinXP Pro but where you can access the Security Tab in normal mode as long as Simple File Sharing has been disabled.
