Hi all,
(Running XP Home SP2)
In a previous thread it was advised to use the "event viewer" function which resides in "Administrative Tools". I thought I'd check it out but could not locate it via "START/PROGRAMS".
I did a search on "Event Viewer".
Low and behold it did exist under "/Start Menu/Programs/Administrative Tools/". So why can't I see/access "Administrative Tools" from "Start Menu/Programs"???
This bewildered me....Any Thoughts???

It is not listed in Programs, it is in Control Panel... and it is not a conspiracy...

Budfred,
In your defense "event viewer" is listed in control panel if you have the classic view set.
If you have the category view set (which is default) then the "basic" user would probablly never find it or know about it since it doesn't easily appear anywhere. Hence Microshaft.
Also,
When I search on "Event Viewer" this is the exact path in which it is found.
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools"
Try it out for yourself.
So, as i've stated before, it does not show up when one goes into the start menu and then lists the programs. Even though it lives in "start menu\Programs".

To paraphrase Albert Camus, It exists where you find it.

You have to enable viewing this in the start menue.
Right click on the start button and select PROPERTIES. the go to advanced and scroll down the list until you see Administrative tools and select it. This will not work if oyu are in classic mode as FB42 said. It is set "hidden" this way to stop idiots like myself from messing about with settings that could cripple the computer.

You asked about Administrative Tools... I believe that can be accessed in Control Panel in all versions... I was not aware that I needed a defense...

It's either hidden or it's not. :p
I was able to find it in Category mode just fine.
Suppose every system is different I guess. :D

I was just saying if he could see it in classic but not in category mode, the attribute has to be the same. :)
