Harddrive wiped???

Hi

yesterday i was useing my pc its been crashing alot recently and restarting by its self.
now it keeps on restarting getting to the safe mode screen and restarting when you choose something i didnt have time to backup anything and i have my windows cd i made a boot disk off my friends pc but i cant find any drives when i use the boot floopy disk.

My pc is(was) windows XP 739MB RAM Maxtor 40GB HD AMD Athlon (i think) 1.2Ghz.

How would i go about getting my stuff back or reinstalling windows?

If the hard drive was formated using NTFS.
A Boot floppy won't be able to see it.
DOS can't see or read an NTFS drive.

You need to boot off the winxp disk.
Then use the tools on it to run scandisk to check for disk errors

it wont find the CD but it says i have 2 floppy drives and they both are the same drive (A and B)

How would i install the cD unless i can get it on floppy

Do you get any warning box before XP restarts itself? If a box mentioning lass pops up, it is a worm infection. Disconnect from the LAN or Internet and see if it will boot.
Did you install anything or upgrade anything before this started?
