Ok hello all I am new to this site

I am new to the wireless networking also. I am good on the PC its self but I need some help. I followed the directions of the linksys wireless router w/4port switch. I also followed the D-Link usb wireless adapter but I can not access the internet. I show an execlent connection but when use IE or firefox. Both are Xp sp2 both have TPC/IP installed. I use comcast ISP witch uses a dynamic ip. I have cycled the modem by unpluging the power and the coiax cable. I have reset factory settings and have not yet enabled any security features. I temporailby disabled both software firewalls. Also, disabled windows firewall on both. If I use the wired switch on the back of the router intenet works fine on both but once I try wirless it doesn't work on the wireless computer (the one w/the d-link usb adapter) please help. If I didn't include some important info let me know I am working on this unil I fall asleep on top of my computer.

Thanks
D

I had this same problem.
I found the channel I wanted to use. ( the default) was unavailable in my area.
I changed the router to another channel and it was up and running.

Try Rick's suggestion with the channels first. Being sure to set the channels to the same on both wireless adapters.

If that does not do it, you may have to manulely configure the IP's for both machines (including the DNS numbers). When I first set up my network, I had one machine that refused to work under "Automatic". I have since set up all my machines this way for security purpose.

Good luck
