can you burn songs to a dvd disk for playback? if so does it hold the same amount of playable songs or more than cd-r? if it holds the same would there be a point in using the dvd disk? thanks guys hope to hear back

Yes.

I have about 400 songs plus 1000+ pictures of scenes, animals, etc on a DVD.

For playback where? In a CD player? No. On a computer with a DVD drive? Yes. In your set-top DVD player? Perhaps if you burned them as mp3's, although most DVD players that play mp3's will only read them off of CD-R's.
