Hi, Im having a few problems with my laptop and wondering if anyone has ever heard of these issues. I've searched for a bit and haven't found anything yet. I have a laptop that never have a working battery (KDS 5340).
Finally got one on e-bay. Seller says he tested it and it holds a charge but says he didnt actually charge the battery. When I plug in the charger to laptop with new battery, the charge light blinks for 30 seconds and then stays solid. So thinking, hmm charging board is bad or adaptor...
BUT if i leave the laptop plugged in and turned off, it will charge the battery very very slowly. About 15-20 percent a day, yikes!! I have never tried to have it turned on and see if it charges at that rate. ok now here's the big problem.. I charged the battery for a few days and got it to 70 percent when I looked at the power meter in windows. Decided to test out the battery by yanking the plug out and poof.. drained battery in about 5 seconds. It seems to do the same thing when I have gotten the battery at 20 percent. Unplug, dead in 5 secs... Is this a dead battery?? Would a dead battery even charge up to 70 percent? My old dead battery never had a charge at all no matter how long I have it plugged in. btw, its a NiMH battery. Faulty motherboard causing the battery to discharge? Can a bad motherboard make a battery go from 70 to 0 in 5 seconds? hmm.
Any help would be greatly appriecated. Trying to decide to try and fix or junk junk it for a new one.
