That is an HP site, not MS.... Why are you suggesting people use an HP update??

As long as the issue is resolved i don't mind if i got the update from MS or HP. All i want is my comp to be up and running ...excuse me if HP updates are not allowed coz i am a newbie, and am picking up things slowly !!

This update MUST be applied BEFORE upgrading to Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.

This has to be done BEFORE SP2 is loaded on those HPs. This is not a post-install fix.

The question wasn't about what was allowed, I was asking why you are suggesting an HP update as an MS update.... I did not assume you were a newbie, but that you actually might have a good reason for this... We generally don't hassle people here because they are new, so I suggest toning down the defensiveness a bit...
