Two monitors, one computer.

No patch, it''s built in. Win98 and up support up to 12 monitors, you simply add another video card and when you go to Display properties it will be there, enable the second monitor and it's done. (video drivers also must be installed for second card.) Some newer cards also support dual output so you can use two monitors with one video card. Mine is that type, ATi Radeon 7000. Yeah I know, it's a dinosaur but it's plenty for what I do...

The way it works is really nice actually, I like it a lot. Whatever application you want can be dragged to the secondary monitor, so if you need to read notes while typing a long document you simply look at the other monitor rather than constantly aximize/minimiza the notes since with a single monitor it covrs your primary application.

The only issue I had with it was with 3D games, I have to disable the second monitor to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I'm sure that's true for a lot of other 3D/OpenGL games. Other than that I think, it's been great. I'd still be using it if I had the desktop space and a good monitor to use...in fact I'd love to get another monitor and see how Linux does...I have the space on this desk...
