Hey All- I reacently purchased a Linksys wireless network card for my Gateway laptop and keep getting the message the "this device may not be working properly" as well as a Code 10 -"this device cannot start" in the device manager. I have run the CD and I have tried downloading the driver directly from the linksys site which seems to work however once I run the setup file, i continue to get the Code 10 message. I've callled Linksys and the first tech told me it was mostly likely the card itself so I retunred that and still came up empty. The other 2 techs I've spoken to there seem to think that it might be an IRQ Conflict?? He also advised me to reassign the IRQs? I know a little bit about computers but not that much to enter my BIOS and start manipulating things. I also tried to contact Gateway and the tech there pawned the problem off on Linksys saying that it couldn't possibly be a hardware issue. I think that I might have screwed up since the card was inserted in the laptop prior to running th CD so windows XP started to automatically set up the driver and card. I'm sure that my laptop is compatable for the driver it just seems that it can't use or recognize the driver properly. Has anyone out there run into this before?
