format a laptop?

I have an acer laptop and i want to format it
i do not have a floppy drive
how can i format it without a floppy drive? :confused:

We need to know what OS you are using, if recent Acer laptop it will be XP which will not usually require floppy disk for format/restore.

Did your friend include any CD-ROMS from the original shipment of the notebook?
The reason I asked what OS is the fact that XP is able to format directly from the CD-ROM, so no floppy is needed.
I recently got an Acer as a second notebook and it prompted me to burn a restoration image as part of the original setup, as well as having disks included with the new notebook.
